Best Medicine Is Back! Season 2 Filmed in Orange County, NY Premieres September 22

FOX’s hit dramedy Best Medicine returns for Season 2 on Tuesday, September 22 at 8 p.m., and once again, the Hudson Valley is helping bring its quirky Maine fishing village to life. Filming took place throughout Orange County, NY, and neighboring Dutchess County. Together, locations across both counties create the perfect backdrop for the fictional town of Port Wenn.

And after the reception Season 1 received, fans have been ready for more.

When Best Medicine premiered in January, audiences quickly connected with its mix of sharp comedy, heart and small town chaos. FOX renewed the series for a second season just months later, and the network now reports that the show’s debut reached 16 million multiplatform viewers. Not bad for a town that looks suspiciously like the Hudson Valley!

Port Wenn, Hudson Valley Style

Inspired by the beloved British series Doc Martin, Best Medicine stars Josh Charles as Dr. Martin Best, a brilliant Boston surgeon who trades city life for the fictional coastal town of Port Wenn, Maine. His medical skills are top notch. His bedside manner? Still a work in progress.

Returning alongside Charles are Abigail Spencer as Louisa Gavin, Annie Potts as Aunt Sarah, Josh Segarra as Sheriff Mark Mylow and Cree as Elaine Denton. Season 2 also welcomes Andrea Martin as Judith, bringing even more personality to an already colorful town.

And judging by the Season 2 trailer, things are not getting any calmer. The first episode, appropriately titled “Be Careful What You Fish For,” includes a mermaid washing ashore in Port Wenn, more medical mishaps and plenty of the offbeat humor fans came to love in Season 1.
